Pope’s Urn Sculpture – 1796 Twickenham 2015
Our most recent COR-TEN© creation was installed in the heart of Twickenham in September 2015. Gaining UK media coverage via twitter and various newspapers (http://www.theguardian.com/books/2015/sep/28/alexander-pope-urn-scuplture-twickenham-memorial). This sculpture has produced fabulous reviews and is a prime example of the specialised bespoke COR-TEN© Steel structures that we manufacture.
Twickenham is famously the home of English rugby but Twickenham was previously known for the creative genius Alexander Pope who was one of England’s great poets. Coinciding with the Rugby World Cup and celebrating Alexander Pope’s work this sculpture was created for all to enjoy in a new public garden beside the Thames in the heart of Twickenham. The completed COR-TEN© ensemble includes numerous familiar quotations representing Alexander Pope’s work and was inspired by Pope’s use of urns in garden design.
